The machine tool industry is moving towards increased throughput (i.e. reducing machining cycle time). On average approximately 30% of the total machining cycle is spent not cutting metal. Instead, the machine tool is moving for a tool change or positioning for the next machining function. Rolling element guideways offers the benefits of faster speeds, reduced drive horsepower, prolonged guideway life and reduced deflection due to a preloaded bearing.
