A reliable and faultless production represents an elementary demand respecting processes in order to produce high-grade components. Especially in grinding, thermal damage has a great influence on the workpiece quality and thus on the reliability of heavy loaded components. Therefore different micromagnetic sensor systems for a non-destructive detection of residual stresses, surface hardness, depth of hardness, and partly for the avoidance of grinding burn have been developed. Micromagnetic techniques enable fast and non-destructive surface integrity and quality control of ground workpieces. For post-process measurements the magnetic quantities Barkhausen noise and field strength are used. A new micromagnetic analysing system which uses an additional eddy current module will be introduced. Therefore an in-process inspection during machining is possible.
