In small-sized surface grinding machines, various pitches of chatter marks exist. These are the waviness due to rocking mode vibrations (20Hz), the waviness due to tuning fork mode vibrations (80Hz), the waviness due to pulsations of hydraulic oil pressures (250Hz) and the waviness due to wheel unbalance vibrations (50Hz). The surface grinding machines are usually installed on the floor through jack bolts and mounting elements supplied from machine builders. Effects of mounting elements of surface grinding machines on their various vibrations are investigated experimentally.
