This paper presents results obtained by a successful application of a lead-tape imprint technique to trace the morphological changes of diamond abrasives in grinding of ceramic materials. The results of applying this technique to a creep feed grinding process are reported. It is shown that this technique can be used to reveal forms of morphological changes when a sufficient number of abrasives are traced. Applying it at different stages of the grinding process yields valuable information about the change in (1) wear mechanisms, (2) grit density, (3) wear-flat area, and (4) number of active grits per unit area.
