The broad acceptance of this technology is due to good metallurgical results, process simplicity, and reliability of modern vacuum furnaces. Gas quenching in vacuum furnaces is considered a better alternative to the oil or salt quench. Ability to control speed and uniformity of heating and cooling in vacuum furnaces minimizes distortion.
