Computer simulation of sheet metal forming processes is particularly attractive due to its unique capability in modeling the development of plastic deformation and in cutting the costs of material selection and die design. In real stamping operation and die design, the usefulness of analytical methods is limited because of highly non-linear nature of the deformation procedure, especially when multistage loading condition is prescribed or complex shapes need to be formed. The finite element explicit, LS-DYNA has therefore been employed to solve such sheet metal problems of practical importance. In the material library of LS-DYNA3D there are limited material models for sheet metal forming which are nevertheless inadequate for the determination of the FLD subjected multi-stage forming operation.
