Optimum performance from a paint process can only be assured through close monitoring and understanding of the environmental variables that lead to inefficiency. The process of spraybooth optimization allows engineers to detect and manage the key operating parameters (KOPs) that affect system efficiency. The process begins with an engineering feasibility study to determine the capability of the equipment to maintain environmental parameters within their optimum range. Cost analysis of system inputs such as energy, paint and maintenance labor are conducted. Also, the monitoring system is evaluated to determine if valid historical information is obtained and utilized to improve performance. Most studies expose waste in the process which is corrected through engineered changes in the hardware of the air handling system, upgrade of KOP monitoring systems and training in the use of the equipm
