This powerpoint presentation begins by presenting the motivation for contamination warningsystems and timely response, and an overview of threat ensemble vulnerability assessment(TEVA) Research Program. Case study goals presented include:identify response actions which could be implemented tominimize impacts given a contamination event;evaluate feasibility of various response actions to furtherdevelopment of a hydraulic response tool;provide input to development of a consequencemanagement plan for the case study utility; and, develop a response tool which supports the selection ofoptimal response actions (flushing, valve closures, publicnotifications) given a contamination event. A summary of analysis states that:by simulating a range of contamination incidents withina pressure zone, average response options can bedeveloped; preliminary results of average response optionsgenerally result in approximately a 1-2% decrease inthe percent reduction of the impact measure from theoptimal response solution; and, determining an average response option can be usefulwhen the contamination source location is unknownand provides a means for developing pre-plannedresponse strategies. Includes tables, figures.
