This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the fouling problem with ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. The development of predictive models of foulingdynamics is presented, along with hydraulic and thermal effects on fouling, calcium as the major accumulative mineral, and iron as the major fouling mineral that influences UVdeliverance. Presentation conclusions indicate the following: a 3-D CFD model to predict the momentum, heat, and mass transport for Ca and Fe fouling behavior; thermal effects on their fouling behaviorsare in agreement with experiment observations; and, fouling reaction rate constants wereestimated for broader use of fouling predictions in practical operation. Includes table, figures.
