Analytical laboratories are a key element of the water sector's ability to respond to suspectedcontamination of drinking water and wastewater systems, especially in the case of serious chemical,biological, and radiochemical contaminants that pose the greatest threat. Laboratories that are part of theU.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA's) Water Laboratory Alliance now have single sign-onaccess through USEPA's Central Data Exchange to two USEPA tools that are specific to drinking watercontamination: WCIT, the Water Contaminant Information Tool; and, NEMI-CBR, the NationalEnvironmental Methods Index for Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Methods.
