This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Tuolumne, California, water treatment facility. Water quality and pre-design analysis are presented, along with traditional softening processes, and pellet softening. A pellet softening pilot study is presented, including the following objectives:reduce the hardness range to 60 - 75 mg/L;reduce iron and manganese concentrations to fallbelow SMCL, 0.3 mg/L and 0.05 mg/L,respectively;assess overall system performance; and, determine operational considerations for full scaleprocess. Pilot study results are provided, along with the Tuolumne Plant design, and a listing of softening facilities in operation within the U.S. Includes table.
