A new approach for determining ultraviolet (UV) dose distributions from biodosimetry data has beendeveloped. The approach is verified from a theoretical standpoint using models of reactorperformance predicted using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and verified experimentally using validation data measuredusing MS2 and T1 phage. The approach can be used to define dose monitoring by UV reactorsthat directly predicts pathogen log inactivation, accounting for the inactivation kinetics of thetarget microbe. By accounting for the inactivation kinetics of the pathogen, the approacheliminates the need to apply a RED bias uncertainty factor to dose monitoring. Includes reference, figures.
