  • Impact of Wastewater Effluent Organic Matter (EfOM) Properties on Drinking Water Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs) in Indirect Potable Reuse
  • Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 11/01/2007
  • Publisher: AWWA

$12.00$24.00

The research objectives of this powerpoint presentation were to:determine organic matter amounts andcharacteristics in different water sources;address the potential impact of effluent organic matter (EfOM) on drinkingwater treatment processes for potable reuse; compare disinfection byproducts (DBPs), and disinfection byproduct formation potential (DBPFP) in terms of trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acid (HAAs), nitrogenous-disinfection byproducts (N-DBPs) and total organic halogen (TOX);investigate the contribution of EfOM to DBPFPs; and, propose strategies for EfOM control. Differentiation of EfOM versus natural organic matter(NOM) using MultivariateStatistical Analysis, includingBox-and-Whisker Plots andPrincipal Component Analysis is presented, along with occurrence of DBPs and DBPFPs andBox-and-Whisker Plots andLinear Regression. Includes figures.
