Taste and odor incidents are the major causes of consumer complaints for drinking watersuppliers. The determination of their origin and causes has become one of the priorities ofwater companies. The objective of this work was to investigate the possible formation of iodinated organiccompounds when natural waters containing iodide are in contact with MnO2. Materials and methods are discussed including: reagents; standard solutions; experimental procedures; and, analytical procedures involvingiodide and iodate ions analysis, analysis of organoiodides, and UV254nm and dissolved organic carbon analysis. Includes 13 references, table, figures.
