Estrogenic endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) present in wastewatertreatment plant effluents are capable of feminizing fishes downstream aswell as producing contraceptive-like effects. The authors havedocumented such changes in downstream fishes in at least three sites inColorado and have verified with careful chemical analyses and controlledexperiments the feminizing capacity of effluents from one WWTP. Includes 29 references, figures.
