The objectives of this slide presentation were to: determine whether there are statisticallysignificant impacts due to waterconstituents for the treatment of PUFA andother T&O compounds using UV/H2O2,generate a predictive model; generate models that predict the logremovals of the T&O compounds in each ofthe treated waters; and, evaluate the hydroxyl radical scavengingpotential of the three waters. Bench-scale experiments are outlined, along with collimated beam apparatus and water quality parameters. In summary, The CCD experiment demonstrated that removalsof T&O compounds using the AOP UV/H2O2 werewater-specific, only for IPMP could a single mathematical model begenerated at the 1% or 5% significance level to estimateits log reduction for all three of the treated watersselected. While UV photolysis alone may be capable ofmitigating the PUFA T&O compounds (notillustrated), efficient mitigation of geosmin, MIB,and the pyrazines would likely require an AOPin agreement with previous experiments. Includes table, figures.
