The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is reviewing available data and research on distribution systems to evaluatecurrent drinking water monitoring programs with the intent of revising the Total ColiformRule (TCR). Types of sample sites, sample site locations, frequency of sampling, samplecollection procedures and sample volumes are being considered in the evaluation. Aspart of an investigation into an increased incidence of coliform positive samples within adistribution system, the effect of sample volume on the ability to detect coliforms intreated drinking water was investigated.
