The objectives of this slide presentation were: to characterize the population of heterotrophic bacteria present in the destined waters to the production of potable water and in the destined waters to the public consumption; to investigate the resistance of the heterotrophic bacteria present in the analyzed waters, to antimicrobial agents used in human, veterinary sanity and in animal feeding; to study the effectiveness of the different treatments used in the potabilization on the different groups of heterotrophic bacteria and about their properties to the resistance to antimicrobial agents; to know the relationship between total coli form and Escherichiacoli present in the destined waters to the production of potable water and in the destined waters to the public consumption; and, to know the effectiveness of the treatments in front of the Escherichia coli, considered as the best indicator of fecalcontamination and microorganism reference in the current one executive community relative to water supply. Includes 8 references, tables, figures.
