Under the current Phase II, Phase V regulation, water utilities haveto monitor for more than 30 pesticides, also known as synthetic organic compounds (SOCs), in their source water. With the upcoming, unregulated contaminant monitoring regulation (UCMR) scheduled to start in January 2001, water utilities will have tomonitor for additional pesticides. Although several methods are available to analyze pesticides, not all the methods have the capability to detect the wide range of chemicals that need to be monitored to meet the regulations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the different pesticide methods and determine if one method could be used to study both Phase II/V and UCMR pesticides. Includes 6 references, tables, figures.
