The objective of this research was to further understand the incidence of nitrificationepisodes in chloraminated distribution systems, by investigating the effects that certain trigger conditions have on a nitrifying bacteria population within a bench-scale distribution system. The goal of the research was to examine the effect of lowered chloramine residual levels on the growthof ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, in conjunction with temperature effects. Includes 10 references, table, figures.
