This study was developed to answer the following four critical questions regarding the use of ozone: what is the optimal ozone application point for disinfection and bromate control; can bromate be controlled when ozonating to inactivate Giardia and Cryptosporidium; are pH depression, ammonia addition, or other control strategies required to control bromate; and, how will ozone be integrated into the plants and what will the improvements cost? Water quality goals were developed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of the ozone alternatives.
