A new ion chromatographic (IC) method based on a Dionex IonPac(R) AS9-HC column with a carbonate eluent and suppressed conductivity detection is specified for the analysis of these inorganic DBP anions, and bromide, in drinking water. EPA Method 300.1 is the only analytical method approved for the analysis of bromate in drinking water, while both EPA Method 300.1 and Method 300.0 are approved for the analysis of chlorite and bromide. This paper discusses the results of a recent interlaboratory study validating this new IC method. This study was conducted to develop precision and bias data for a new ASTM test method, which is technically equivalent to EPA Method 300.1(B). Typical single-operator method performance data will be shown and the interlaboratory method bias, So and St for low ug/L levels of DBP anions and bromide spiked in reagent, drinking and bottled waters are presented. Includes 8 references, tables, figures.
