This paper presents a cost-effective technique in which PCBs, chlordane and toxaphene are analyzed for compliance water samples. The technique involves a modification of EPA Method 505. A GC/ECD system equipped with a large volume injector was employed to produce method validation data. The data presented here includes initial calibration, demonstration of capability (DOC), method detection limits (MDLs) and pattern recognition level data (PRL). MDLs less than the Federal Register required limits have been obtained using this technique. Matrix spike data on drinking water samples along with a brief cost comparison of Method 505 to Method 508 is also described. Includes 4 references, tables, figures.
