This paper examines the factors that effect the quality of solid phase extraction (SPE) performance for monitoring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from aqueous samples. The performance of SPE disks were evaluated at varied drying time, speed of flow, and varied pH conditions. Among these conditions, extended drying time of the SPE disk could reduce the recoveries of Acenaphthylene, Naphthalene and Acenphthene significantly. The spike of actual samples kept in the refrigerator had better recoveries and precision than the laboratory fortified blank which temperature is not controlled. Includes 13 references, tables.
