This slide presentation outlines information on the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) initiative to index intakes to the National Hydrography Database (NHD) Stream Reaches. The CWA objectives are listed and include: establishing standards; monitoring; assessments; waters not meeting designated uses; technical support and financial assistance to restore to designated use; EPA's data integration vision that uses water location as the integration vehicle, using geographic information systems (GIS) tools and applications; and, EPA's GIS tools show intakes on impaired waters under CWA 303(e), view water quality standards (WQS) & CWA 305(b) assessments next to intakes, and co-locate intakes with regulated contamination sources. The slide presentation also describes the web site "AskWATERS", a watershed assessment tracking and environmental results system.
