Over the last few years, the City of Austin's Water Conservation Program has coordinated with other natural resource entities both within and outside of City government to develop more coordinated marketing, rebate and technical assistance programs and more symbiotic relations. These range from combined energy-water conservation rebates to joint technical assistance coordination and joint workshops and awards programs. The road to get there has been both very beneficial to all involved and often very revealing. This road has also included a number of bumps and detours from some very unexpected places. Entities involved include water and electric utilities, local gas companies, air quality programs, solid waste programs, compost operations, watershed protection, the Green Building Program, and a collection of professional organizations and other local interests. This has resulted in a number of coordinated activities. Each of these is summarized in this paper and include: joint energy and water conservation rebates; EarthSmart; energy-water-air quality relationships; and, green coordination. Includes tables, figures.
