  • A Study of Ion Chromatographic Methods for Trace Level Bromate Analysis in Drinking Water Comparing the Selective Anion Concentration (SAC) Method, U.S. EPA 300.1 and a Postcolumn Reagent Procedure
  • Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 01/01/1998
  • Publisher: AWWA

The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive comparison of these bromate methods, evaluating the performance of the modified selective anion concentration method to EPA Method 300.1 and the new postcolumn method. Only limited performance data has been available for Method 300.1 and no performance data has been reported for the other two methods. Municipal raw and finished water samples received by EPA over a 3 month segment of the ICR, spanning all relevant water types submitted by the ICR participants were analyzed using the three methods. The methods were evaluated for future use in compliance monitoring and their individual strengths and weaknesses reported.
