It has long been assumed that Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts will stick to the sides of the glass and plastic containers in which they are placed for research purposes. This study was conducted in order to determine how many of these organisms escape detection during a routine analytical or research procedure because of their adherence to the labware. The results indicate that a significant number of Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium muris, and C. parvum remain attached to the sides of both plastic and glass containers.
