This paper describes an application of microfiltration to convert a facility designedto treat wastewater to a potable water treatment facility. The project was initiatedin order to reduce the utility's reliance on groundwater and provide a high qualitydrinking water source. The project involved extensive process equipmentselection evaluations to determine the optimal configuration for water treatment. The recommended process includes preliminary screening, dissolved air flotationwith enhanced coagulation, microscreens, pressurized microfiltration, granularactivated carbon, and disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. Major projectchallenges included process selection and incorporating the proposed facilitiesinto the existing structure. Includes tables.
