This slide presentation outlines the Community Case Study Pilot which examined anddocumented in detail 23 security andemergency preparedness practices currentlyused in the Seattle-King County region. The purpose was to:document current active and effective security andemergency practices related to a community's watersector (water and wastewater systems);results will serve as a reference to other communitiesseeking an active and effective security andemergency preparedness program; and,information serves as an example and should not beconsidered guidance. Key driver of the pilot study was theNational Drinking Water Advisory Committee (NDWAC)recommendation of 14 features of an active and effectivesecurity program. Elements of the pilot study, types of practices that include collaborative, infrastructure, operational and organizational, attributes of a practice, practice examples, benefits of implementing practices, and community involvement are all outlined.
