The purpose of thisstudy was to determine if chloramines increase metals residuals in pipes and fixtures treatedwith phosphate-based inhibitors. This report concentrates on the findings of the corrosion inhibitor analysis. The threephosphate corrosion inhibitors (two polyphosphate blends and orthophosphate) werecompared under conditions mimicked in a typical distribution system with chlorinedisinfection. Data from this study was used to select an appropriate corrosion inhibitorfor the needs of the Birmingham Water Works Board distribution system. Includes 13 references, extended abstract only.
