The present study concerns the possible methods of evaluating the performance of storage chlorine contactors for water treatment and gives some ideas for their design. Improvement of the performance of already existing disinfection contactors can be as well carried out. These chlorination tanks are used mainly as a regulator between the water treatment plant and the distribution network which has variable flowrate conditions. In addition, these storage tanks are reactors for the disinfection process as they create a sufficient contact time between water and the disinfectant.
