This poster presentation outlines production of drinking water from seawater by the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane process for the Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, California desalination plant. Treatment plant components, raw water pre-treatment processes, RO desalination process and post-treatment processes are presented for this 132,000 gallons per day facility. An emphasis is placed on the post-treatment of the RO "permeate" water. Water quality data are presented for the raw water, permeate and "finished" product water regarding physical, general minerals, total organic carbon (TOC) and disinfection by-products (DBP) parameters.
