A number of conservation measures can be used to achieve water conservation goals. Among these are alternative flushing and retrofit devices designed for retrofit of existing toilets. In order to determine the overall effectiveness and potential of these Devices Metropolitan retained the Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) to evaluate the available market-ready Devices designed for the toilet. This paper has been prepared in order to provide an overview of the estimated savings and cost per acre-foot comparison of the Devices tested based upon Metropolitan's average service area characteristics. It should be pointed out that there are a variety of assumptions necessary to develop a relative economic comparison of these Devices that may or may not be appropriate to other service areas. The complete report is referenced in WATERNET under accession number 0031932.
