The US Environmental Protection Agency and the University of Michigan tested previously developed modeling concepts for studying changes in a water distribution system, including a field sampling program to verify, calibrate and determine the accuracy of the model. The models were tested in the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (SCCRWA), serving New Haven, Connecticut. A pilot hydraulic and water quality model was developed for the SCCRWA's Cheshire service area. To determine the accuracy of the model, a field monitoring program was conducted to calibrate and validate the model. This paper briefly describes the procedures used to design and conduct the field monitoring study as well as some of the notable results of the study. The general trends predicted by the model were mirrored fairly well by the field monitoring.
