This paper is based upon a variety of research projects conducted over the past 12 years. The various projects have traced the removal and retainment of Rn and its progeny through the final isotope, Po-210. One or more isotopes of Po, Bi, and Pb have been measured directly on GAC beds and columns either in-situ or after separation. In the last few years, the desorption of progeny has been documented for variable water chemistry and for the process of thermal regeneration. All of this work has led us to conclusions about the adsorption/decay process for Rn removal by GAC.
