Ozone-induced coagulation has been the subject of many recent studies. This paper describes the results of experiments investigating two possible mechanisms, namely the possible role of humic-bound metals acting as coagulants after being released by ozonation, and the potential coagulating action of biopolymers released following rupture of algal cells due to ozonation. While the experiments are of limited extent, they do not support either mechanism directly.
