The Theory of Operation/Misconceptions is presented, along with optimizing performance, key indicators of performance, understanding the SCC, andnew tools for operation. Presentationconclusions indicate that: the key to optimized SCC operation isgenerating an inventory of large uniformdiameter solids that remain in suspension;SCC's can be difficult to operate due tothe solids removed on a daily basis ascompared to the inventory; and,mass balance combined with simplealgorithms and existing SCADAcapabilities can create a system whichmanages operation.
