The water supply for Seoul, Korea comes from the Han River, and is treated for an earthy-musty taste and odor at six water treatment plants that serve approximately 10 million people. This study focused on removing the following compounds: 2-methyl -isoborneol (2-MIB), and trans-1,10-dimethyl-trans-9-decalol (geosmin). These compounds and algal growth trends were also monitoredevery week at 6 intakes in 2007. Includes figures.
