Iron Nanoparticles, especially Nanoscale Zerovalent Iron (NZVI) with differentBrunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas, ranging from 13 to 51m2/g,has been successfully synthesized. The main advantages of NZVI are its highreactivity for the complete removal of toxic pollutants, such as bromate andarsenic, and its high potential for introducing iron nanoparticles directly intocontaminated water phase and groundwater area. Compared to commercialmicro-size zerovalent iron, synthesized NZVI is more reactive due to its highlyspecific surface area and high dispersivity. The reactivity of synthesized NZVIwas observed by investigating the effects of operational parameters on reductionof bromate, our target contaminant, from water state. Includes 7 references, table, figures.
