This research focuses on testing innovative pretreatment techniques to makemembrane filtration in small water systems possible. These two techniques are runningthe coagulant onto the membrane before running the raw water to coat the membranewith a coagulant slurry, and injecting the coagulant into the feed line so that it runsinline with the raw water across the membrane. These techniques are compared withthe current method of pretreating the raw water with coagulant then running through amembrane processing unit. Includes 22 references, tables.
