The State of Texas recently completed a comprehensive water planning process for the entire state. The process involved the development of 16 regional water plans by representatives of local stakeholders within each of the region. The statewide planning process was mandated and funded by the 75th Legislature in response to severe drought conditions within the state during the 1990s. This paper discusses the use of reclaimed water as a water supply strategy to meet the growing needs in Texas over the next 50 years. Includes tables, figures.
